Please Pass The Pie Server!

Pie Server
I've been thinking a lot about pie ever since I took Kate McDermott's Art of The Pie class a few weeks ago.

Of course, I have been reviewing her fabulous recipe and anticipating the seasonal fruits that will soon emerge here in the Pacific Northwest. But, I have also been thinking about the pie tools used in class--the pie pans, the rolling pins, the pastry brushes, and  even the lowly pie server!

I have a broad collection of  pie pans, rolling pins, and pastry brushes, but one thing  I lacked until recently was a pie server.  When we started serving Kate's big luscious pies during class that day,  I realized that a sturdy hard working pie server was critical. It seems like such a humble tool, but it's funny how something so basic and sensible can make such a difference when serving a hefty piece of homemade pie!

While hunting around a thrift store last week, I found an Oxo Good Grips Pie Server. Of course, I grabbed it and now I need to put it to work on a hefty seasonal fruit pie!

I love this pie server as it is serrated on both sides making it easy for lefties and righties!

Of course, I should have mentioned that it is suitbale for lefties and righties!!! Thanks again for a great class!!

How about those bake into the pie, pie servers? Seems like a nifty solution for getting that first slice out, but I've never tried one.

that is definitely an upgrade from my dark blue Tupperware pie server. You do well thrift store shopping!
