Fondue for the Holidays
Since Christmas Day is on a Friday this year, I plan to continue the festivities throughout the weekend. But by then I'll be done with hosting sit-down dinners. In fact, I'll be done with cooking altogether. That's why I'm thinking that a fondue night might be just what I'm looking for.
I have never hosted a fondue party, but I'm told they're easy enough. Find a recipe for a great cheese sauce, cut up some crusty bread, veggies, and voila. Or maybe try a Bourguignonne style fondue of meat cooked in a hot oil and served with a variety of dipping sauces. Or I could skip dinner altogether and go straight to dessert with a chocolate fondue served with pound cake and fruit.
From what I've heard, this Trudeau Electric Fondue Set does it all. I can heat the pot initially over the stove, then move it out to the table where it will stay warm the whole evening--without Sterno! Hot oil can be cooked directly in the stainless steel pot. And there's a special ceramic insert to keep cheese or chocolate at just the right temperature too.
If anyone's had experience with fondue, I'd love to hear your tips and techniques, recipes too, for a fun and easy fondue party.

I love fondue! And it's really easy to make. I'm partial to the classic Swiss cheese fondue - just make sure you use top quality Gruyere and Emmenthaler cheeses. Don't forget the kirschwasser! If anyone wants my recipe, I'll gladly post it here. I also do a mean chocolate fondue. :)
