Who Stole My Ziplocs?
I was about to put away our leftovers last night, some ravioli that my husband could reheat for lunch, but when I looked in the pantry for my stash of reusable containers, I found only lids. Twelve lids to be exact. This isn't the first time I've been out of containers, yet stuck with plenty of lids. Does this ever happen to you?
Today I bought replacements and stocked the pantry with more than 50 containers. I like a variety of sizes. The large rectangular ones are perfect for storing slabs of bacon or a half of a roast chicken. I use the medium sized squares to store soups and sauces in the freezer. And the small squares hold cut-up fruit or a few cookies or crackers for on-the-go snacking.
I'm under no illusion that they will all last into the new year. What with sending holiday leftovers home with our dinner guests--a turkey leg, a slice of pie--I know the numbers will dwindle. There will be decorated cookies to share with friends, chicken soup for those with winter colds, and let's not forget the Halloween cupcakes that we'll deliver to neighbors next week.
But this won't explain the disparity between containers and lids that I will no doubt experience again in just a few short months. What gives?

It's like pairs of socks that go into the laundry basket together and emerge forever divorced, or the phenomenon of seeing only one boot or shoe on the roadside. Just one of those facts of life.

I am in the same situation. I had a whole bunch of good containers there including a bunch of Tupperware that someone sent me and the containers are gone but the lids are still there. And of course nobody has an answer for what happened.

Tracy,
I think I know where your lids went. I have lids and no body! It's irritating!!

My dogs love to destroy the lids of my nice Pyrex containers.

SC Johnson (the makers of ZIPLOC) offer coupons on all their products (on a rotating basis) on their website SCJOHNSON.com. ALSO, if you call the 800 number (1-800-494-4855)that's printed on every SCJ product and chat with the Customer Relations person, they're always sending out coupons.

I can see it now...a "never-never land" where all those missing containers have odd socks stuffed into them, and the odd lids are used as Frisbees.....VBG
I sorted through my containers and lids three days ago...I have one odd bowl, and three odd lids...and for the life of me, I don't know where their partners can be. It's just the two of us in this house...can I blame it on him?

We've solved the problem by storing the containers with the lids on, firmly attached. That way both containers and lids disappear together (which is just as well, since they take up so much room stored that way)
