Spaghetti Ice Cream

Courtesy of wikipedia, a delicious shot of Spaghettieis--a brilliant German creation that looks like a plate of spaghetti, but actually consists of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, strawberry sauce, and white chocolate or coconut flakes. It's a sultry 80-something degrees in Seattle today--I think I need this!

I loved that stuff when I was a kid. The whipped cream freezes a bit underneath the ice cream and makes a funny mouthfeel.
In the eighties, you could even buy Spaghettieis ready-made and frozen in supermarkets. Good old times. ;)

wow this is the first time i've ever seen anything like this. and you guys are making it seem like its been around since 1970.
i wonder if the picture from wikipedia is baden-baden in nyc on 32nd st. if so, i will be heading over there tonight. =)

I lived and worked in Dusseldorf for one summer in the early '80s and Spaghettieis was all the rage.
