Where did you grow up? And. . . How young are you? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy your site very much. But. . .
Didn't your momma ever make pies? Didn't she take all those little pieces of left over crust and put a dab of jam in the middle and fold it over and put them all on a cookie sheet and cook them so there were no leftovers to throw away? Dribbling a little glaze on top before they cool too much? Or leave those extra bits all flat and cover them with cinnamon sugar for Pie Fingers?
When the pies were cooking and the sweet smell of blackberries or apples or coconut wafted through the house and out the open windows and found you where ever you were playing? That smell so tantalizing that sooner or later everyone drifted into the kitchen and Momma had those lovely little bits ready to give you along with a big glass of cold, cold milk.
My goodness. You ought to come by my house some day when I'm cooking. Us old lady cooks make lots of goodies on the side. Can't throw away anything, don't you know? Gram and Momma wouldn't approve if I did that. Gram born 1865. Momma born 1910. This is the real deal lineage of American cooks. The Old Girl School of Real Cookin'.
