Almost Edible Photo: Onion Soup

A clear and chilly day (like today) and a rich and aromatic soup (like this onion soup) seem an ideal pair. This lovely picture is from the Consumed(I, This) blog, where talented Michael Hoffman puts up amazing recipes and luscious photos on a regular basis. You can find two versions of this onion soup there, one that involves braising a half a pound of pork belly the day before and one that doesn’t. Being a non-meat-eater, I’ll have to tweak the latter a bit to make it, but if it even comes out tasting half as great as the below looks, I’ll be darn happy (and warm). And, having the attractive bacon-y photo here is also a good way to get bacon-loving pals (like AndreaLeigh and Spanno and probably some of you) in a daze (which will allow me to whisk chocolate off desks without being noticed, keeping me from getting too tired during the long work afternoon).
