"Whopper Virgins" - The Ultimate Taste Test
Ok folks, tongues are wagging. Fast food and the film industry have joined
two powerhouses to produce a
movie about people from remote parts of the globe who have never tried or even heard of a hamburger before. I’m talking Stacy Peralta from Dogtown And Z-Boys fame (awesome!), and Burger King. Stacy and his crew locate willing participants and give them one Big Mac and one Whopper and they have to say which they think is best. The result so far is a lot of heated debate among, well, people with opinions. Apparently, BK has been running shorts from the film as commercials, but the whole film, directed by Peralta, is available at Burger King’s “Wopper Virgins” site. This link takes you directly to the video, which starts automatically: http://www.whoppervirgins.com/. The film is over 7 minutes long, but worth a viewing I think. It really does strike some chord in me when I see those folks trying to figure out how to hold a hamburger and which part to eat first.

There’s a funny blog on freedomhaters.org on the Whopper Virgins commercial.
It ties it into Noam Chomsky and how the indigenous people on the commercials will most likely be forced to move to big cities when the fast food chains move in, and have to work for Burger King for a tenth of what American’s make.
