OK, I know I should save this for Easter, but it's just too amazing and I can't wait that long to share it. Maybe y'all are making deviled eggs for the holidays?

I think it looks great-very easy to do, for myself. However, especially in this cold and flu season, I would think twice about doing it this way. Blow as carefully as you want, you will still be effectively spitting on the egg!

i used this and it worked very good but dont squeeze the shell when you blow itll crack and the egg wont just slide out

I prefer to roll the egg after it has cooled to crack the shell all around and then simply slip off the shell....*Yawn*...

This method is, in a word, disgusting. Infectious germs can be spread through something as simple as a cough or sneeze, so I cannot imagine eating an egg which someone has spat upon. There is a trick to peeling boiled eggs which has never failed for me. I learned it years ago on a cooking show, but I cannot remember which one. When the eggs are done, pour out the hot water. Leave eggs in pan and add ice cubes, then some cold water. After about 15 minutes, when the eggs are cool to the touch, peeling is a "piece of cake."

Hummm...will have to give this a try...in the meantime, older eggs will peel easier than fresh ones. Just buy them a week or two before cooking. Also, spin the eggs on the counter before cooking to center the yolks...less waste and easier to fill (no split whites).

Will this work on very fresh eggs? I have backyard chickens, and have to keep their eggs for three weeks before I can get a clean peeled hard boiled egg.
I am tempted to try the baking soda part, to see if that reduces the adhesion factor.

I tried it this weekend and it actually works! It was a fun experiment (me, standing at the sink, laughing out loud!)but not too practical (germs, spit, etc.). I was preparing the eggs for my own consumption to just thought I would try it. I was so impressed that I had my 88-years-young mother watch me do the second egg. She was also amazed. As for the rest of the blog entries, can I just say TMI about all of the egg factoids? It was just for fun. :o)
