Extremely Boring Gingerbread House
On the rare occasion I attempted to make a gingerbread house, I never had the following thoughts:
1. I know! I'm going to make this look nothing like a gingerbread house.
2. Hmm...is there any way I can make this whiter and more boring?
3. I wish I could just pay someone a lot of money to build this for me.
Well if you're not like me and always wanted a really boring gingerbread house that looks nothing like a gingerbread house and you have an extra $4,320 that you saved from your sinking stock portfolio, you're in luck. You can now order a gingerbread replica of the Farnsworth House (located in Plano, IL) from AprilReed.com.
According to the Times, "It took the elves at April Reed Cake Design several days of photo research and about 25 hours to construct the fondant-covered walls, poured-sugar ‘glass’ windows and sugar-paste I-beams and staircases."
And while you're anxiously awaiting for this ridiculous thing to arrive in one piece (sugar-paste I-beams aren't as strong as you'd think) you can practice saying, "Because there aren't any gumdrops on the actual house" and "No, I'm not sure where Plano is."
