What's the Matter Colonel Sanders?
Chicken?! Ex-Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson recently teamed up with PETA to pen a letter to Kentucky Fried Chicken UK asking them to alter the way they raise their chickens. Anderson had previously written to KFC Canada, who responded by changing their policies concerning living conditions for chickens on their farms and adding a vegetarian faux chicken to their menu. In her letter to UK KFC Managing Director Martin Shuker, Anderson states "Until I hear from PETA that you will be agreeing to make changes similar to those agreed to by KFC Canada--and recommended by KFC's own animal welfare advisors--I will be boycotting KFC and encouraging everyone to watch my video expose at KentuckyFriedCruelty.com."
Not for the faint of heart, the video demonstrates some of the shocking practices KFC employs, and shares the kentuckyfriedcruelty website with other pleas from celebrities trying to shed light on and bring an end to KFC's on-going animal cruelty. Trust me, it's enough to make anyone want to kick the KFC bucket.

This is an overtly political statement made on a food blog. Perhaps it would be appropriate to allow some sort of counterpoint to PETA's lunacy. Such as the fact that modern food production has the ability to feed the planet, unlike PETA's luddite plans.
I read this blog for food news and other cooking related topics. I certainly don't have any interest in the sophomoric political opinions of amateurs.
Stick to the topics or you will lose at least one reader. And I will certainly reevaluate my Amazon.com purchasing. I am not interested in being preached to!

"To complain about the ‘injustice’ done by humans to chickens – those cannibalistic balls of faeces and feathers – is to call into question the entire basis of human civilisation."

Um, I thought that Pam Anderson was a vegetarian...what's she ordering at KFC?

Wow, I didn't know that Amazon published PETA press releases without question! It's fine to have such opinions, but seriously, pretend to write more than their release. I expected more from the company blog.

Sounds like it's time for a trip to KFC! I'm hungry.
Seriously, though - this is a food blog, right? Just looking at the blog front page I find this: http://www.aldenteblog.com/2008/06/weekend-recipe.html - a link to HAMBURGERS. Shock, horror. PETA won't like that. So why does it matter what they think when it concerns KFC?

Forgot to add: the hamburger recipe sounds good. I'll try that - after I pick up a bucket at KFC.

Hmmm.
Hey two for one. Food info and preaching.

I think normal people will agree that treating animals cruelly isn't good.
While I'm sorry about the chickens.. I'm sure if they could, they'd eat me, and not in a very humane manner either.
If the object of this article is to raise awareness, and to have people boycott kentucky fried chicken, all its done was irritate me. Particulalry, the mention of celebrity advocates, because frankly what celebrities do and think doesn't really interest me.
