Cool Candy: Absinthe Lollipops

The people at Lollyphile know what they're doing--making candy that looks cool and features unique flavors. Their website is a hoot too, check out their blurb for the absinthe pops: "Our absinthe lollipops are really freaking awesome. And we say that without even an ounce of hubris--people go crazy (not like, cut-your-ear-off crazy, tho) for them." The only other flavor they currently carry is maple-bacon (not a problem for a baconphile like me), but they claim to have a variety of forthcoming flavors that will get added to the store soon.

Do you know what absinthe is? Dangerous....and illegal. Do these pops actually consist of Absinthe?

According to wikipedia:
In 2007, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) relaxed the US absinthe ban, and approved several brands for sale. These brands must pass TTB testing. A US distillery also began producing and selling absinthe, the first US company to do so since 1912.
Here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absinthe#United_States
According to Lollyphile's website: They [lollipops] are made with real (and completely legal!) absinthe, with no artificial colors or flavors at all.

I bought some as a gag gift for my GF as she is a foodie and they made her laugh, she actually liked them both, but did admit the bacon one was a bit weird.
They had great customer service and would definately buy from them again as they get more flavors.

I'm a lolli fiend! I'll never forget back in the day - I used to get the most fab Laura Secord lolli's in Canada - - the flavors were pure back then ... Thanx for this article - - takes me back to happy times.
