Al Dente Taste Test: Perfect Water

PerfectwaterblogTouted as "the ultimate fluid to empower your body and mind", Perfect Water makes some lofty scientific claims. These include purification, re-mineralization, ionization, oxygenation,  and something called "microstructuring". Even their website is mum as to what that means. It reminds me of Brawndo: The Thirst Mutilator from the movie Idiocracy, but without all the over-the-top advertising.

As a straight "taste" test, Perfect Water excels in that it tastes like nothing. In a blind test between this and plain water we couldn't tell the difference. There's a slight mouth feel difference (thicker?) to Perfect Water, but after a few swigs it's not noticeable. There was also the way we felt after drinking it. Everyone got a slight oxygen buzz.

In addition to scientific claims, they make performance claims that can be demonstrated with three simple tests. We conducted two--the flexibility and strength tests. First was a simple toe-touch. We all got a baseline for how far we could touch our toes. After just one ounce of Perfect Water and a few seconds to let the oxygen distribute through our bodies, there was a slight improvement--an inch or two. Not a miracle, but a decent improvement. Second was the tip test, which is explained and shown here. This definitely worked as advertised. I'm not sure how it works, but it's pretty cool.

Bottom Line:
Perfect Water will probably make a good workout drink. Not only is it water, it might have some performance benefits. As with any product that makes performance claims, results will vary. With the extra oxygen, you might feel a little extra energy--I hit the gym for an hour after drinking half a bottle and I definitely felt livelier--a little more flexible, and possibly stronger since the more oxygen you can get to your muscles, the better they perform.

You can buy Perfect Water only from select retailers.

I tried Perferct Water to appease my son (an IBO). I have health issues that result in chronic pain and very low energy level. I was skeptical of any product that makes the claims this one does, but willing to try anything if there was a chance it would help me feel better. After drinking about 1/4 the bottle, I felt a definite surge in my energy level. After my first bottle, I decided to give it a try on a more long term basis and ordered two cases. I haven't felt this good in a long time. I don't feel as tired and it has eased some of my pain level. I am not claiming that I am cured, I am simply saying I have found something that provides some relief.

I had two bottles of perfect water (each on different days) and i did not see a difference at all. There was no difference in flexibility or endurance. I came to the conclusion that it is all in your head.

I too thought this was a joke...let my friend test me just because I respect him as a person. Needless to say, the results speak for themsleves. Professional Sports teams are now using it. Believe in it or don't...but don't knock it 'till you try it.
Lastly, ever heard of that little company called Avon? Are they a gimmick or prymid scheme? The Supreme Court ruled this marketing legal, so do some more research if your interested in commenting on the ligitimacy of the business plan and distribution.

I found this site to be helpful during my research on
the Perfect Water. Hope this helps!

I have been drinking this water primarily for about three weeks now and have personally seen some wonderful changes. I have seen that my alertness throughout the day improve greatly. I work with 70 kids daily so the more alert I can be the better. Physically I noticed that my calves didn't ache as much after being in heels for a full day. Normally I'd be straining for comfort midday but I believe that this water helped properly hydrate my muscles giving them a needed boost. Without a doubt I am a believer of this water.

As for Amazon thinking they'll be able to sell it to you. I doubt it will ever happen. It's sold exclusively through an Amway/QuixtarTM powered IBO. Talk to an Amway/QuixtarTM powered Independent Business Owner about it.

I have been paralyzed for over 15 years due to a car accident. Last month I was given a bottle of this perfect water. One bottle and now I can walk again!!!! Not only that, I'm running the Chicago marathon this year..This thing works.

You can please some people some of the time....etc. (Abe Lincoln) Let the skeptics be skeptics. You're not going to change their mind. People are differnt, some things work for some people and not for others. Just because you're allergic to pennicillun doesn't mean it has the same effect on others.

I drink two bottles per day and find that to be helpful in keeping me hydrated. Also, it seems to me that if you are not drinking properly purified water, you are a water purifier yourself. Just some simple common sense, in my mind. All the info you need is at http://www.drinkperfectwater.com

Mmm, by the way, this will unlikely ever be available via the Amazon platform as the company protects the rights of IBO's and supports them in every way they can to keep an even level playing field.

Again, it will unlikely ever be available on the shelf (unless you see it in a convention or approved selling medium), in any major retail chain store, or anything that would contradict their goal of keeping true to their business structure of giving every American a piece of the pie.

In fact, if any of you have seen any of the national commercials aired lately on primetime TV, Quixtar/Amway Global is putting out over $200 million dollars in advertisement campaigns via commercials and huge magazine ads, etc to educate and blitz the public with it; and that's only another one of the aspects of how they support independent business owners.

Regarding the comments made on this site that question the credibility of a a product released through a MLM company. Quixtar/Amway also exclusively markets the Nutrilite brand which Discovery Channel has run a documentary on and is endorsed by top athletes like Ronaldinho, top sprinter Asafa Powell, and top hurdler Liu Xiang.

-- I bought a bottle at my local Kroger a while back, and was disappointed to see that they are not selling it anymore. I never realized it's a multi-level product. That sucks for me as I would like to just buy it occasionally at the store.

I have been an applied kinesiologist for over 15 years, and I muscle tested the various water options in the store's health food section, which included "Smart Water" among others. Perfect Water tested the best for me, and did seem to have some positive effects when I drank it.

Some people may be skeptics regarding muscle testing, but I have a lot of experience and expertise at it and felt very confident in the results I had regarding the Perfect Water. I would love to buy more of it locally.

Junk science in the marketplace

Enough said...

It may not work for everyone, but as an overweight diabetic, I love drinking one each day, usually before my workout. It gives me energy. As for MLM's and pyramids, its hard to really evaluate the pros and cons overall. I buy the stuff from myself, and I like it. I think the price is worth it, and thats all that really matters to me, not so much who makes money on what. I care a lot more who is getting rich on gas prices these days!

Perfect Water is a Perfect Scam! Its a Perfect Product, for a Perfectly good AMWAY DISTRIBUTOR, to Perfectly pull the wool over the eyes of uneducated victims. It's the perfect placebo. Drink 1oz of Perfect Water and a paralyzed person can walk again! Give me a break. Educate yourselves people, please. And AMWAY wonders why they get such a bad rap. It's because they train, and brainwash all their distributors to use con artist tactics and fool people into paying to high of a price for a product, strictly by making unfounded claims of miracles!

Educate yourself. The tip test is a fraud. I did the exact same test with a friend of mine, except I replaced the perfect water with a cigarette instead. I told her the smell of the tobacco did wonderful things with the muscles, and she was amazed to see the increased flexibility, and the balance simply from smelling a cigarette. Then I showed her the truth. The tip test is just a scam. Its a simple application of physics. The first time you are pulled off balance by a tug on your arm away from your body. The second time it's a PUSH DOWN AND TOWARDS your body while leaning in with the weight. WOW!!!! You dont fall off balance, amazing how that works when the test is done different the second time.

Then the flexibility issue. Try it yourself, right now. Stand up and touch your toes. Then put your arms out the side and see how far you can twist around without moving your feet. Now do the exact same thing again, this time take a big swig of jack daniels wiskey, budweiser, or whatever you care to use to prove that this test is bogus. Guess what, you will have improved flexibility this time. AMAZING!!!!! This Budweiser ROCKS!!!

The secret??? Your stretch and flexibility is always worse on the first try. Your muscles are cold, and unstretched. The second time, your muscles are warmer and more stretched. Try it a third time, take another swig of that Budweiser and try again. WOW!!! Even better this time, this stuff really works!

Dont believe me? Try yourself, right now. And check out this link.
Educate yourself!

I have no doubt that purified water is good for you. I have no doubt that there may be slight scientifically proven benefits to adding oxygen to water. But stop telling people its a cure for cancer, arthritis, and can make you walk again.

One more side note. I purify water for a living. And I do know one thing, that added sodium, calcium, and magnesium in Perfect Water is not as much of a miracle as you might think. Calcium and Magnesium make your water hard. You combat that problem with a water softener that uses sodium to counteract them. When you end up with all three, sodium, calcium, and magnesium, what you have is the result of water softener not totally softening your water to zero grains hardness. The result. A cheap softener, leaving more sodium in the water than it's supposed to and not removing the contaminents properly leaving the calcium and magnesium behind.

A side note: People on low sodium diets are not supposed to have most water softeners because of the extra sodium left in the water. What about Perfect Water? Is there a warning label printed on it about this problem?

There are a million things I can say about this subject, but you need to educate yourself and not just listen to me. And for those who allow their AMWAY DISTRIBUTOR friend to do the test on them because they trust them as a friend. Think about the science behind the test, and if you really need to trust them if they know these hard secrets and are still misleading you.

Educate yourself. And stop making foolish claims.
Just my 2 cents.

I heard it is being endorsed a world soccer star (think Brazil) and some on the top UFC fighters as well as a couple of well respected training houses are carrying it exclusively. The gentleman who introduced me to this owned a medical testing lab. He had a mountain of proof and with every person the test has been performed on, including professional athletes, the result were astounding to say the least. As an athlete myself (soccer) I can tell you it is an essential part of my game now. Whether it be recovery or performance, there is one thing every nutritionalist or physician will tell you and that is the more oxygen you have available to your muscles, the faster you'll recover or the better you'll perform. It is that "Edge"!

I would gladly perform the test on anyone and they will be surprised!

Hmm, imagine that. You happen to be selling it and you are an AMWAY DISTRIBUTOR. Oh, I'll be darn, you find it to be a good idea to post your link for people to buy it from you? What are you thinking? Another blatent violation of Quixtards rules.

I suppose you do not have a problem using those shady sales tactics of the tip test either do you? Do you really think people appreciate being mislead and lied to with the claims of the product increasing flexibility and balance when there are no scientific finds that actually back that up? You guys are selling totally with dishonest misleading representations. And you guys wonder why there are so many people who absolutely dispise AMWAY? It's because people do not appreciate being lied to and manipulated, and neither do your friends and family.

What the hell is wrong with just telling people it's great water, and they need to try it? What's wrong with that? It's respectfull, and it is honestly the truth. May be hard to get people to shell out $48 a case for water not totally purified when a case at at the local grocier of Reverse Osmosis water is only $4. But to manipulate people and make them believe it gives all those benefits is totally wrong and should be ILLEGAL!!!!!

Good, clean, purified drinking water has MANY ADVANTAGES! I'm all for it. Add electrolytes, fantastic. Even adding oxygen theoretically is not a bad idea to try. Personally I believe that unless you have gills, all you are doing is creating an expensive burp! And the extra oxygen actually absorbed from the new dirty hydrogen peroxide created by adding oxygen molecules has a very tiny chance of ever making it to the muscles as it would be absorbed by everything else before it gets there. Yes I know, the technical term really is di-hydrogen di-oxide for what is created, but you get the point. But hey, I'm entitled to my opinion as you are yours.

Only thing I'm saying is this... It may be the most wonderful bottle of water in the world, but I'll never buy another bottle of it because of how all the clowns feel they need to lie to trick people into buying it. I do not believe I will be alone in my opinion either. Keep it up, and eventually this kind of behavior will destroy your rock solid company called AMWAY/QUIXTAR instead of just ruining it's name so it has to keep changing it and hiding it from everyone. As a 10 year AMWAY vetran, (I no longer wanted mislead people so I moved on), I know from experience, all you are doing is destroying the industry and it wont take long before Dick Devos starts taking action against you. Unless of course they endorse your behaviors.

Seeing the real tip test debunked opened my eyes. Amway can keep their water if you ask me. I think I will just go back to drinking my gatorade. Heck, I might even blow bubbles in it!

The continued slam of Amway as worthless because it's a direct selling company shows a certain shallowness. Amway markets all of it's products directly and has some 700 patents to it's credit. It seems the U.S. Patent Office must believe some of their products have merit or why would they continue to issue worthless patents. Perfect water works as described and who knows what the real long term benefit might be at this point.

I'm a proud Independent business owner and appreciate my best friend sharing the Quixtar opportunity with me. This business isn't for everyone and its a good thing too, because I heard it said one time that if everyone was in our business the economy would crash and we need people like Jeff and Chuck out there working jobs. I'm just glad it doesn't have to be me. The Perfect Water is a great product and provides a healthy and wealthy lifestyle. Time and money to live my life with my family and kids. One thing this business team has taught me is you have a choice and as a United States Marine I love the freedoms of our great country and I have served this country for 8 years working on another 4 year tour. I'd gladly fight to protect the negative and positive people in this great nation and just know that you have control of 2 things your attitude and your actions. Work on yourselves and rather than being negative and hateful try being an up-lifter to others. From the bottom of my heart I wish the very best to everyone that has posted here on this site. Positive or negative God has planted seeds of greatness in you just be strong enough to help others. Greatest thing you can do with your life is help others. Quixtar and Amway Global our great companies and they give the average person an opportunity. Corporate America has lost sight of that and if you don't believe me just think about all the people you know that have lost there jobs. Find whats best for your family and don't be so willing to judge others. I strongly recommend trying the Perfect Water!

Sincerely,
Chris Lyon

Wow, all kinds of great posts here. Love the science, the passion, the claims, and the ORAH to God and our Country. Bottom line, there is no magic water. Sounds like the "tonic" salesman back in the early 1900's. Quixtar along with the makers of Perfect Water are telling all the IBO's out there that they need to drink this water to feel better, be heathlier and MAKE MORE MONEY. But how do you make more money when you are spending 10 times more for a product you can get at the grocery store. I know, I know, the grocery store does not send you a rebate check at the end of the month. But they don't take and extra $36 out of my wallet as I walk out the door eiter. MLM's are about making the guy at the top richer. Yes the CEO of Coca Cola makes more then the factory worker, but the factory worker does not have to pay to come to work. No monthly books and tapes. No costly trips to functions. No other meetings that cost money. There will alway be someone at the bottom that is loosing money in this biz. Don't let it be you!

I don't see anything wrong with great tasting water that, scientifically has great benefits. There is real science behind the 15 step purfication process. As for muscles warming up, that's not true. The oxygen actually loosens your body up. Now if you think it's all just bunk, then what can I do to sway your thoughts? I can't necessarily.

Either way, it's not expensive in contrast with high quality water out there. It's actually on par with waters that are "imported" or "special" water. It's water. And for what it is worth, you can really just feel the difference if you have problems moving. I know a person who her son has problems moving his arm. He never went to physical therapy as their insurance ran out. After using the water, he has better movement in the socket. Why? Again, loosens the body up.

Regardless what you think, balance and all that actually works. I can do it in the same exact fashion, even moving my body to "pull" them my way and they won't tip, especially with someone who completely has no balance. And guess what? I've stood back and let folks do it on each other, and they do it in the exactly same way.

I just like it and I think it's great that the company has a great supplement to the product selection they already have.

The fact is that this water is the most purified water on the market - that can not be argued. So, why should we care who is selling it? There are many benefits to perfect water but one that has not been discussed is not the water itself but what the water comes in. The plastic bottle that this water comes in has no harmful BPAs (Bisphenol A - a low level toxin that leaches from plastics) like most bottle waters on the market. Many states are considering banning all bottled water due to the hazard it causes in landfills. Perfect Water comes in the highest grade of recycle plastic there is. If you want to buy that cheap tap water in a toxin leaching bottle you better hurry and stock up because they are about to be pulled from the shelves. Another complaint is the price - do you really think that the most purified water in the world that comes in the most environmentally safe bottle on the market should cost the same as that crap from costco? This water is a steal at $1.99 per bottle!

This product is a lot of fluff. I saw a Perfect Water rep talk about it in front of a group of football players. He claimed that after drinking 1 oz. of water and waiting 1 minute, you would dramatically increase your flexability and balance. Bull crap! I drank an entire bottle, and had an average workout. This product is just riding the wave of "miracle" products out there designed to rip off consumers. If the claims about their purification process are true, I could see maybe a little benefit. But don't go around making people think your product will make you impenetrable to bullets! Save your money.

Did everybody fail their basic physics and biology classes in school ?

A normal breath of air introduces about half a litre of air into your lungs. 2.5 litres for a nice deep breath.
About 20% of the atmosphere is oxygen, which gives you half a litre of oxygen for a deep breath.

Even if a half litre bottle contained 99% oxygen (hint.. it doesnt), your two dollars worth of water would only give you the same oxygen as a nice deep breath of air.

The above example also assumes that the stomach can absorb oxygen as well as your lungs, which is patently untrue. The body is very very poorly set up to transport oxygen from your stomach into your blood stream.
