With opening day right around the corner, Al Dente readers might want to start their mouths watering by dreaming about all that great food available at baseball stadiums these days. It's no longer just peanuts and Cracker Jack! At Seattle's own Safeco Field, I can't miss the barbecue and Dippin' Dots whenever I attend a game. Here are a few other tasty treats found around the country:
- Barbecue stuffed baked potato (Houston)
- Shrimp tacos (San Diego)
- Cuban sandwich (Tampa Bay)
- 40-clove garlic chicken sandwich (San Francisco)
- Crab cake sandwich (Baltimore)
What unique treats do you eat at your stadium? Add a comment and let us know!

I've been to my fair share of MLB stadiums in my day, and there are certainly many great examples of food and drink. The BBQ at Safeco is pretty good, but I have to say the garlic fries are more the signature dish. Down in LA, nothing beats the Dodger Dog. If you prefer your dogs heated in dirty water instead of grilled, then Yankee Stadium is the place to be. Although I don't remember great food the time I went to Wrigley Field, I did enjoy a few Old Style beers. In any other circumstance, Old Style would be fairly gross, but it was the perfect beer for a sunny summer day watching the Cubbies.

In Pittsburgh, where the Pirates of Suckitude play (thx, PittGirl), you can get a Primanti Bros. sandwich that has the cole slaw and french fries on the sandwich. It's a delicious way to clog your arteries.

Yeah, the garlic fries are definitely the predominant smell of Safeco, but I'll take the beer brats w/ cream cheese and cucumber slices! And Shishkaberries, of course.
