Yum: Bacon Candy
I'm a lucky girl. For my birthday last week, my lovely coworkers made me bacon pumpkin pie and maple bacon cookies! But what do you do if you're still craving the salty-sweet bacon combo but you haven't got the patience for a complicated recipe? Say hello to my new junk food of choice:
Ingredients:
1 lb bacon (not thick-cut)
1/4 cup brown sugar
Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Slice bacon into 1/2-inch strips and dredge in brown sugar until thoroughly coated.
3. Crumple aluminum foil to allow for grease drainage and place it on a baking sheet. Lay out the bacon on the foil making sure not to overlap pieces.
4. Bake until crispy. Allow to cool and harden before serving.

Heard about this on Sirius Maxim Radio (The Stretch Show - He's a bacon fanatic).
Some girl called in and said once its cooked, you can also put it in the fridge overnight. Then, crumble up the pieces and add to biscuit or pancake mix to kinda spice it up. Can't wait to try this!

I just emailed about this. Wasn't this on the page for Super Bowl treats?

We've been makin' something like this for years (in our smoker)
1 lb bacon (DEFINITELY thick-cut)
2 Tablespoon Dryrub
1/4 cup brown sugar
first add 2 Tablespoon of your favorite dryrub to the 1/4 cup of sugar
2d don't dredge, pack that sugar on.
3d lay the bacon out on your smoker grate (donna try that foil trick later (cleanup my way is a pain)
4th smoke under cherry or hickory for an hour at 250
5th Take your share now, it'll be gone if you wait.

This is even better with cayenne pepper added to the brown sugar! A little sweet, a little spicy, and pork fat. How can you go wrong?

This will smoke very heavily if I remember correctly - I've put the bacon on a rack over a roasting pan with a small layer of water in it to keep the bacon fat from igniting and setting off the smoke alarms - other than that, this american delicacy is well worth the effort.
Is great thing to take for party hors'dvours as requires no warming/cooking when you get to the party.

Sounds yummy, but there's a fancy chocolate shop in DC that sells bacon-flavored chocolate that's hard to beat:

I am now a bachelor, and I try to watch my carb intake AND have easy snacks that might not have made my ex-wife happy. So a simple bacon-treat is: One mouth-full of shredded bacon and a few swigs of diet soda. Not as good as this recipe, but easy and not an insulin-bomb.

How long does it last refrigerated? I have a party at work next Wednesday and want to prepare this beforehand.

This is good, but know what makes it even better? Add cayenne to the recipe. About 3 tablespoons to the 1/4 cup brown sugar...
