Drink Olive Oil, Live To Be 120-Years-Old

120yearold Mariam Amash, an active inhabitant of a quaint Israeli village, makes sure to drink at least one glass of olive oil every day. And since she was born in 1888, she's had at least 43,800 glasses--roughly 2,737 gallons of olive oil.

Olive oil can help lower cholesterol and blood pressure, as well as regulate blood sugar level and knock out nasty free-radicals. More info can be found here. Apparently it has worked fairly well for Mariam, you know, seeing as she's been around since the Turkish Empire was in control.

With 120 grandchildren, 250 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren, I bet she spends most of her time making out $10 checks.

I have enjoyed this article, however, I don't think I'll be drinking a full 8 ounces of olive oil, nor will I drink even a cup. I limit my intake to 2 teaspoons per day. BTW, I think the old gal looks pretty good for 120 years old. C'mon...she's 120!

I know this is a tad off topic, BUT...how many of you have white hair, and want to get rid of it, without having to dye your hair?

I found this out by accident. I am taking one 1200mg capsule of omega 3 and 6, fatty fish oil, plus a vitamin E capsule everyday. My hair was getting pretty white, and one day I was getting ready to comb my hair, and I was totally shocked! All my white hair, has now turned back to it's natural color. NO MORE WHITE HAIR!

I no longer have to spend a fortune on hair dye. Just thought I'd pass this along.

I've been drizzling a lot of olive oil on my food, doing Hulda Clarks liver flush and drinking a mix of pink grapefruit juice and a cm or so of olive oil. I have drastically improved my health in only 48 hours. So many symtoms gone, calmer, happier. I've also been rubbing it onto my skin and hair.
Make sure to get high quality stuff from a decent brand. Cheaper stuff, even cold-pressed extra virgin... will have the good fats destroyed or semi-rancid. I used Bertolli but there should be better brands out there.
Vinegar is important too.
Udo Erasmus and Joanna Budwig are the premier fat researchers of the 20th/21st century. David Wolfe is also very knowledgable. Good oils may well have an effect on cancer and AIDS. MMS is also good stuff.

Drinking a shot glass of extra virgin olive oil daily has improved the look of my skin, nails and hair. Everything looks healthier and my moderate acne has cleared. Taste can make you gag, so I chase it down with a sip of juice and it's fine. Oddly I seem to be sleeping more effectively and falling to sleep quicker without staying up for hours trying to fall asleep. I recommend adding at least a table spoon to your diet daily. There is truly nothing to loose. I your worried about the fat and calorie intake than simply drink some in the morning so your body will have the entire day to digest and burn the fats.


Do not drink an 8 ounce glass, i lived in Palestine (Where Mariam lives), and when they say "glass" over there, they mean a small glass. Not a giant 8 ounce glass.

Actually this habit comes from Italy. The olive oil there is like a religion.

I'm on my second bottle...a shot glass (2 tbl spoons)in the morning and I expect to see my blood work improved. It is really tasty and an advantage is you get to know the best olive oil on the market.

To avoid the Nauseaus gagging feeling when drinking ..mix half olive oil with half classic coke and a fresh squeezed lemon. This is ideal for detoxing your liver and gall bladder to remove gallstones.

Drink the olive oil with a little bit of orange juice and you won't even taste the oil :)

You guys have to realize that the oil this woman uses is very different from the olive oil you buy at the Giant or Safeway stores in north America. Olive oil in Palestine is the purest form of olive oil on the planet. My grandfather and grandmother used to own an olive farm in a small village in Palestine and when I was a kid they took me with them to the farm sometimes. They did not use any kind of chemicals what so ever. If you wanna benefit from olive oil, try to get a 100% certified organic oil, although I don't trust manufacturers who claim that their products are organic.

I totaly believe in Olive oil...Extra virgin is the best. I mix it with balsamic vingar and pour it on my salad or get some froccsia bread...MMMM MMMMM good...or sometimes ill just drink the oil with the balsamic. I cant drink the oil by itself...

I am from the middle east and the benefits of olive oil are so well known to us, but many westerners to do not wish to drink olive oil. It is so good!

It is well known that drinking olive oil is a common part of the middle eastern diet. We splash olive oil on everything. Olive oil on hummus is great. It is no secret that olive oil can really help your health, nutrition, and skin/beauty. However, I must agree with many here about not wanting to live to 120 lol, that would be exhausting

The FDA did research which showed that at least 1/3 cup of olive oil had considerable health benefits. That 1/2 a cup had those and reduced dementia in the elderly. They believe it's because of the correct balance of omega 3's to 6's.

It's recommended you use extra virgin olive oil. It has a higher amount of fatty acids. I would recommend never cooking with it. It has a relatively low burn temp.. For that I use Peanut Oil. Might take some getting used to but it doesn't have saturated fats either. I eat a salad a day (usually) and drown it with olive oil.

In trying to figure out how much is too much, I found this comment. If you physically drown in it... that's too much. Personally I'm not really sure, but I figure midway is good at 1/2 a cup.
