What Does This Commercial Say to You?

First of all, thanks to Popwatcher Michael Slezak for posting this Kraft Singles commercial today. Like him, I would like to know what the message in this commercial is. All pregnant women should subsist on Kraft Singles? Pregnant women love cheese? Kraft Singles will help you have a super-cute baby? If the last is true, I have to wonder how much cuter my already super-cute baby would have been, had I eaten Kraft Singles every day of my pregnancy (or at all, for that matter).

Al Dente readers, what's your take on this commercial?

It looks like eating cheese sandwiches will make your pregnancy seem super fast and your newborn will look 3 months old.

Well it seems very clear to me... just pay attention to the baby and the last scene: "Have a happy sandwich". The commercial is telling you if you eat the happy Kraft sandwich all the time, you will have a happy baby. Kinda dumb.. be more creative you ad people!

I was thinking that a cheese sandwich was about the number of daily calories a pregnant woman is supposed to consume beyond her normal diet during pregnancy. Isn't it around 200-300 a day? And a cheese sandwich is fairly nutritious, compared to other snacks or binge-y food a pregnant woman might crave. I would probably get tired of eating cheese sandwiches day in and day out after 9 mos., though.

Very odd way of promoting a product. First of all, why id the cheese sandwich the only happy sandwich? As much as I LOVE cheese, in any form or shape, this sounds very one-sided. But there is more. Is she happy because she eats a cheese sandwich every day of her pregnancy? Does cheese make happy babies? Also, if she eats ONLY cheese sandwiches for 9 months, I am not sure about her health and her baby's.
Oh, almost forgot. While I watched her belly growing and then seeing her in the hospital, before they actually showed the baby, I thought she would give birth to a cheese sandwich or a block of cheese...
